Guard’s Quarters, Vulture AZVulture was a gold mine and mining camp near Wickenburg, AZ. At its height, about 5000 people lived there, most of them in tents. It was abandoned in 1947 when the mine was no longer profitable. Today, about a dozen buildings still stand, among them the ball mill, a couple of dorms, the support building at the head of the mineshaft, and the assay office building. The guard quarters are upstairs over the assay office. |
